Details about the Pedestrian Accident in Lake Oswego

KGW News is reporting that a female pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck and killed in the Lake Oswego area early Monday morning, according to police.

The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 217 north and Interstate 5 headed south.

According to investigators, the victim, Vicky Stroh, of Lake Oswego, was attempting to cross Highway 217 at a crosswalk when she was hit by the oncoming vehicle. Apparently, the woman was wearing headphones at the time of the accident and she may not have heard the truck that was coming, says Officer Jim Wolf of the Tigard Police Department.

Officer Wolf also said that the woman had not activated the pedestrian control device for the crosswalk, either.

The driver of the pickup truck that hit the woman stopped at the scene and is fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation.

Police set up a detour around the scene of the accident so that they could further investigate the incident.
