Organic Powder Recalled Due to Possible Health Risk

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Sunfood has recently recalled their organic carob powder due to it posing a health risk.

About the Carob Powder Recall

On August 11, 2014, Sunfood’s organic carob powder was recalled due to potential salmonella contamination.

Those infected with salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain. It can also cause a fatal infection in the elderly and young children.  

Sunfood recommends that consumers stop using the recalled powder immediately and return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Description of Recalled Carob Powder

  • The recalled powder was distributed in 1lb, 20lb & 55lb white poly bags.
  • Lot numbers 140321,140416,140509,140516,140609,140616 & 140623 were tested by the company’s supplier and was revealed to possibility be affected by salmonella.
  • The product’s expiration date is 6/5/2015 and its UPC Code is 803813-04429 8.
  • The product was distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders.
