Details about the Fatal Palm Bay Accident

Florida Today is reporting that one person was killed in an accident that happened that involved a personalized motor scooter near the entrance to a shopping plaza in Palm Bay, according to officials. The victim who was killed in the accident has been identified as 78-year-old James William Smith.

Police have stated that the accident was reported to them at about 8 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of Palm Bay Road and Bottlebrush Drive. Police have indicated that the crash was caused when a pedestrian was attempting to cross the street outside of a crosswalk and failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The accident happened not far from the Bay Fire Station 1, and several police officers were at the site.
