Panasonic Recalls Battery Packs Due To Fire Hazard

Panasonic is recalling nearly 400 laptop battery packs after determining the units can pose a fire hazard to consumers.

About the Panasonic Battery Recall

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Panasonic Corporation of North America, of Newark, N.J are announcing the recall of about 387 Panasonic six-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery packs sold in Panasonic CF-S10 Series laptop computers.

Panasonic has issued an immediate nationwide recall on Panasonic six-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery packs sold in Panasonic CF-S10 Series laptop computers because conductive foreign material was mixed into the battery cells during manufacturing, posing a risk of fire.

Description of the Recalled Batteries

  • The recall involves Panasonic six-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery packs sold in Panasonic CF-S10 Series laptop computers.
  • “Panasonic” and “CF-S10” are on the surface of the laptop on the left side below the keyboard.
  • The model number and lot number are located on the battery pack nameplate.
  • Battery packs with the following model numbers and production lot numbers are being recalled:
    • Model Numbers: CF-VZSU61UBAW, CF-VZSU61R
    • Lot Numbers: BBX, BC, C1, C2
