A pedestrian was critically injured in an accident that happened in Cobb County.

Details about the Pedestrian Accident

WSBTV News is reporting that police are currently investigating a serious accident that happened that involved a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle in Cobb County.

The accident reportedly happened at about 10 a.m. on Thursday on Windy Hill Road between Austell and Powder Springs Roads. The roadway was shut down for a period of time after the accident due to the investigation. According to police, a white Smart Car pulled over and a woman got out of the vehicle. The woman then walked into traffic, where she was hit by a Ford Explorer.

At this time, it is unknown why the vehicle pulled over onto the shoulder, and why the woman got out of the vehicle and walked into the roadway.

The woman was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Her current condition is not known at this time. It is unlikely that the driver of the SUV will face any charges at this time.
