Pedestrian Injured In North Austin Crash

A pedestrian was seriously injured in North Austin on Sunday when he was struck by a Jeep near at 1800 West Anderson Lane.

Details of the North Austin Pedestrian Accident

According to KVUE, a man in his 60s was struck by a Jeep after he stepped into oncoming traffic.

EMS responded to the accident at 6 pm to find the man pinned under the yellow Jeep. He was rushed to the hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

EMS Commander Millie Zapata says that there is a crosswalk two blocks away from where the accident was, and stated that illegal street crossing are a big problem in downtown Austin.

Austin Travis County EMS has already responded to roughly 1,000 collisions involving a pedestrian, bicyclist, or motorcyclist since January.

  • There were 63,610 serious injury crashes in 2012 and 87,087 people sustaining serious injuries.
  • 838 people in 2012 were killed in crashes occurring in intersections or related to an intersection.
