Details about the Fatal Pedestrian Accident

CBS Local in Boston is reporting that a man was killed in Brockton on Wednesday morning when an SUV accident accelerated backward rapidly, hit the man, and then dragged him across the street. Police have stated that the accident happened near the Brockton Courthouse, and it is believed that the man who was killed was a homeless person.

The victim was transported to the Brockton Hospital where he later died. Police have confirmed that the driver was a defense attorney who was backing her Mercedes SUV into a spot in the parking lot of the courthouse when she accidentally hit the gas and lurched backward.

After hitting the man, the SUV then crossed West Elm Street, continuing backward out of the parking lot, up a hill, through some bushes, and onto a sidewalk where a group of men were sitting under the shade. The victim was dragged under the vehicle that whole time.
