Pedestrian Killed in Austin Crash

A man was killed early Saturday after being struck by a drunk driver in downtown Austin.

About the Austin Pedestrian Accident

According to the American-Statesman, 32-year-old Kelly Wayne Noel was struck and killed by Wade Atwood, 40, around 1:15 a.m. Saturday after Atwood pulled out of a Wendy’s parking lot on the northbound frontage road of Interstate 35 near 7th Street.

Atwood told police that he had drank two beers prior to the accident. Police determined Atwood had a blood alcohol level of .102, above the legal limit.

A second driver, Ramiro Sosa, drove into the crime scene less than two hours after the initial accident occurred, nearly striking police officers.

35-year-old Sosa was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.
