Details about the Hit-and-Run Accident

WSVN News is reporting that police are searching for the driver who is responsible for fatally hitting a pedestrian in North Miami Beach and then fleeing the scene of the accident.

According to police, they responded to the scene of the accident near the Northeast 178th Street and 19th Avenue at around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning.  The victim of the accident, a pedestrian, was crossing the street when a vehicle that was driving north hit the victim and then sped away from the accident.

A neighbor who lives near the scene of the accident says that the accident didn’t need to result in the death of the victim and could have been avoided if the driver had just stopped and called 911.

At this point in the investigation, police still do not have a description of the vehicle or of the person who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.
