Pediatrician Sentenced for Molesting Patients
A Delaware pediatrician accused of molesting more than 100 patients between 1998 and 2009 has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The 56-year-old doctor was charged with 33 felony counts of first- and second-degree rape, sexual exploitation of a child by photo or film, and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to reports, the victims were young girls of various ages, and at least one boy. The victim who came forward, prompting the arrest, was 2 years old. The doctor was arrested in December 2009; searches of his home yielded hundreds of DVDs and video tapes of forced sexual acts with patients which included intercourse, oral sex, and fondling.
In June, the doctor was convicted of 24 counts of rape, sexual exploitation of a child, unlawful sexual contact, endangering the welfare of a child and other charges. A bench trial judge sentenced the ex-pediatrician to 14 life terms, plus 164 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
