Doctor Sentenced in Hepatitis C Outbreak Case

“When a trust that a patient places in his or her physician is betrayed, I don't think there is a greater betrayal in our society.” – Clark County Judge Valerie Adair as published by Reuters

Reuters reports that Desai was convicted of 27 criminal counts including second-degree murder, insurance fraud, negligence resulting in substantial bodily harm and misdemeanor counts of theft and taking money under false pretenses.

The infections of Hepatitis C were traced back to nine patients, one of whom has died, and found that an additional 105 people might have been infected.
