One person is dead following a small plane crash in Hawthorne, California.
Details about the Fatal Plane Accident
According to authorities, the pilot of the small plane crashed the aircraft onto the road and sidewalk along a busy street in Hawthorne. The woman was in full cardiac arrest when first responders arrived and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Shortly after noon on Monday, the plan had slammed into a tree and then fell onto the road on the 3600 block of West 120h Street, which runs parallel to the airport.
Firefighters and other emergency responders attempted to get the pilot out of the aircraft while at the same time tackling a fire that had engulfed the plane.
The roadway was closed in both directions to give authorities the opportunity to conduct a proper investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
