Pistachios Recalled Due to Risk of Salmonella
Western Mixers Produce and Nuts Inc. issued a recall July 10 for their ARO and/or Treasured Harvest Pistachios due to a risk of salmonella contamination.
Information about the Pistachio Recall
According to the official FDA recall release, salmonella is known to cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Even healthy adults can experience high fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pains. In some cases, salmonella can reach the blood stream causing more sever illnesses including arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
