Police Issue Winter Weather Warning in Belmont County After Rollover

Officials in Belmont County issued a winter warning for drivers after a pickup truck overturned on Interstate 470.

Details about the Wintry Weather Wreck

WTOV 9 News is reporting that a pickup truck overturned on Interstate 470 near Banfield Road on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency officials then issued a warning for winter drivers on the roadways.

The driver spun out of control and slammed into the median wall. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured, but there were more dangers at the scene of the accident that drivers needed to be aware of.

Many passing vehicles did not slow down, which created a hazardous work environment for emergency crews that were responding to the scene of the accident.

Lieutenant Curtis Kyer of the Cumberland Trail Fire District said that drivers needed to pay attention and be aware when emergency crews on the side of the road. Lt. Curtis further said that the crews were standing on ice at the time when drivers were speeding by and said that people needed to slow down when emergency crews had their lights on.

The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. and was cleaned up later that afternoon.
