A police officer and 11-year-old boy were killed in an accident that happened during a police chase.

Details about the Fatal Accident

News 4 San Antonio is reporting that a Huston-area police officer and an 11-year-old boy were killed when the officer’s patrol car collided with an SUV as the officer was in pursuit of a drunk driver.

According to Trooper Richard Standifer, Patton Village Police Sergeant Stacey Baumgartner died at the hospital after the Saturday evening collision. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and five other people in the SUV were critically injured.

At this time, the Texas Department of Public Safety has not released the name of the child.

The suspect that was being chased has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault with a vehicle. The Patton Village police say that the SUV hit the patrol car in an intersection about 30 miles northeast of Houston. The suspect saw the accident in his rearview mirror and returned to the scene.
