Details about the Officer-Involved Accident

An alleged drunk driver slammed into a police car early Sunday morning while the officer was performing a routine traffic stop.

According KHOU News, the accident happened around 2 a.m. on Sunday on I-45 at Pierce Elevated and Brazos Street. A Houston police car had driven up to two cars that were stopped in the left moving lane of the Pierce Elevated after an SUV had rear-ended the back of a black Uber vehicle. The police officer had gotten out of his vehicle to ask the two drivers to move off the freeway.

When the officer got back into his vehicle, an alleged drunk driver slammed into the police car, sending the police car unto the SUV in front of him. The impact of the police car hitting the SUV sent the SUV colliding once again into the Uber car.
