Police Searching for Man Involved in Hit-and-Run

Police are searching for a driver involved in a life-threatening hit-and-run in San Antonio on May 18.

About the San Antonio Accident

Around 10 p.m. on Monday, two pedestrians were walking across the southbound lanes of Scales Street at Nassau Drive when a small red car slammed into them.

Both pedestrians were knocked to the ground, 51-year-old Ramond Galvez was dragged a short distances and run over by the car.

The woman Galvez was with only suffered a scratch, but Galvez was taken to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Police have said that the driver will face a charge of failure to stop and render aid when found.

The following information was provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT):

  • 3,337 people were killed in traffic accidents in Texas in 2013 – this averages to one death every 2 hours and 36 minutes.
  • 767 fatalities were attributed to collisions that occurred at or in relation to an intersection.
  • Pedestrian fatalities totaled 485 in 2013, and pedalcyclists fatalities totaled 48.
