Dextroamphetamine

Dextroamphetamine Overdose

Dextroamphetamine, the generic version of the brand name drugs Dexedrine and Dextrostat, is used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.

In 2008, its manufacturer, ETHEX Corp., pulled a specific lot of Dextroamphetamine sulfate tablets from the market when it was discovered that they may contain twice the recommended amount of the drug’s active ingredient. This manufacturing mistake put patients at risk for a potentially life-threatening amphetamine overdose.
