Pregnant Woman Killed in Gastonia Crash

 A woman is dead following a car accident in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Details of the Fatal Gastonia Accident

According to the Charlotte Observer, two vehicles collided just after 1:00 pm Monday at the intersection of West Garrison Boulevard and South Vance Street.

Authorities believe a Cadillac driven by Julius Dalpiaz, 83, pulled in front of a Honda Civic driven by 34-year-old Samantha Kay Thomas. Thomas was unable to avoid Dalpiaz’s vehicle an the two cars collided.

Thomas was killed in the accident as was her unborn child. Dalpiaz was transported to Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte with a fractured pelvis.

Thomas’ 11-month-old son sustained minor injuries. Her 61-year-old brother-in-law also survived the accident, but his condition was not immediately available.

The cause of the fatal accident is still under investigation. As of now, there are no pending charges.
