Questions Linger in San Antonio Brewery Death
According to the San Antonio Express News, the man killed in a construction accident at the Pearl Brewery last week has been identified as 31-year-old Inocencio Victor Rodriguez-Diaz. His family has spoken out in the media about the way the accident and his death were handled by police.
Construction Worker Died On the Job
Reportedly known as Victor by his friends and family; Mr. Rodriguez-Diaz was found inside of the smokestack at Pearl Brewery, seven days after falling to his death. He had begun working at the brewery construction site only a week earlier. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
Family Questions How Accident was Handled
- According to reports, the man’s family attempted to file a report the day he went missing, but the report was never filed.
- Police did not begin investigating the incident until the man’s decomposing body was found seven days later.
- The general contractor in charge of the construction job also did not realize the man was missing until the body was found.
- The coroner attributed the cause of death to injuries sustained from a 20 foot fall into the smokestack; yet police have reportedly stated that Diaz’s hands showed signs he had tried to bang on the metal door of the smokestack likely in an attempy to seek help.
