Destiny Baker10 months ago

San Antonio man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison on Tuesday after being convicted of murder in the drunk driving death of a motorcyclist.

Details of the Fatal Accident and Trial

William Joe Rhomer, 43, will likely spend the remainder of his life in prison following his sentencing for the 2012 death of Gilbert Chavez, Jr., who died after his motorcycle stuck head-on by Rhomer.

During the trial, the prosecution showed that Rhomer was not only involved in the fatal accident, but was also a repeat offender with five DWI arrests.

The defense argued that Rhomer was a man “with a good heart and a problem with alcohol,” asking for leniency, but his request was declined.

Rhomer apologized to Chavez’s relatives before being led from the courtroom.
