Rixson Recalls Exterior Gate Closers
Rixson has recalled its Exterior Gate Closers due to a possible risk of injury.
About the Exterior Gate Closer Recall
According to the U.S. Consumer Safety Product Commission, the gate closer mechanism on the Exterior Gate Closers can break and eject metal pieces including the spring or it can spray oil, causing injury. The gate closers are affixed to external gates.
The gate closer was sold at wholesale and hardware distributors sometime between April 2015 and November 2015 for about $460. They are manufactured by Assa Abloy Italia S.p.a of Italy and about 130 units have been sold in the U.S.
Consumers should stop using the gate and contact Rixson for information on removing the arm from the gate closer and receiving a free replacement. Rixson is also contacting consumers who have bought the recalled product directly.
Model Number of the Recalled Gate Closers
The model included in the recall is Exterior Gate Closer Model 1350. Only units produced between January 2014 and December 2015 are affected by the recall. The production date of the gate closer is stamped on the side of its body, which can be accessed by removing the body’s plastic housing.
