According to the San Antonio Express-News, Bexar County Sheriff deputies are continuing their search for a hit-and-run driver responsible for a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on the far West Side of Bexar County early Sunday morning.

Victim of Hit-and-Run Identified

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim of the fatal accident as 38-year-old Vanessa Puente.

Preliminary reports indicate Puente was walking with her boyfriend on Silver Maple Street near Potranco Road when she was struck from behind by a dark-colored SUV. The incident occurred around 2 a.m.

Puente’s body landed about 50 feet from the point of impact. She was rushed to University Hospital in San Antonio following the collision, but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The motorist fled the scene of the accident, and authorities are now seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the driver.

Deputies are advising area residence to be on the lookout for an older model SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition, with front-end, passenger side damage. Anyone with information on the accident is urged to call investigators at 210-335-6086 or San Antonio Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867.
