Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Recalled Dog Food
Diamond Pet Foods is continuing a massive recall of dog food due to potential salmonella contamination. According to published reports, the same processing plant produced food contaminated by toxic mold that killed dozens of dogs several years ago.
14 Ill from Contaminated Dog Food
People can become infected by handling the contaminated dog food, then eating without washing their hands. According to federal authorities, fourteen people are ill as a result of the contaminated dog food and at least five people have been hospitalized.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) asserts that of those infected, three are from Missouri and North Carolina; two are from Ohio; and one person each is from Alabama, Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
