A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident near the Broadway Tunnel in San Francisco.

Details about the Fatal Pedestrian Accident

CBS Local San Francisco is reporting that a pedestrian was fatally hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident near San Francisco’s Broadway Tunnel early on Friday morning.

According to the San Francisco Police, the accident happened at Powell and Broadway in Chinatown, near Jean Parker Elementary School at around 6:00 a.m.

The victim was a man in his 60’s who lived in the neighborhood.

Police further said that the victim was found about three yards from the crosswalk. At this point in the investigation, it is unclear if the man was in the crosswalk or in the middle of the street when he was hit by the vehicle.

Authorities report that they are looking for a white van with no back windows that was in the area at the time of the accident. Officers expect the vehicle may have some damage to the front end.

Police are also searching for surveillance footage from the area in order to identify the driver of the vehicle.
