School Bus Driver Arrested for Driving Drunk

The driver of a car that crashed into a school bus in Dudley was drunk at the time of the accident, according to police.

Details about the Drunk Driving Accident

NBCDFW News is reporting that the driver of a school bus was in court yesterday morning after he crashed the bus with 11 students on board on Thursday afternoon in Dudley, Massachusetts.

When police responded to the scene of the accident at around three in the afternoon, they found the bus on Hayden pond Road with wires from a utility pole on the roof of the vehicle. The children were transported from the area on another school bus.

After police spoke with the bus driver, 42-year-old Scott Poirier of Dudley, they determined that the man was drunk. Poirier was then arrested after failing field sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influenceA preliminary investigation shows that the bus backed up into the utility pole.

Power was out in the area to about 280 customers, according to the National Grid, but restored to the area later Thursday night.
