School Bus Recall Issued by Blue Bird Corp.

Tina Robinson2 years ago

Two separate bus recalls have been issued by Blue Bird Corp. to fix steering defects and fuel leaks in certain school and transit bus models.

About the School Bus Recall

According to the Claims Journal, Blue Bird has recently issued a recall affecting approximately 2,500 All American school buses due to a potential steering defect. The company says that if the steering shaft clamp comes into contact with the rubber close-out boot, drivers may have difficulty steering the vehicle. Blue Bird has been monitoring the problem since September 2013. No injuries or accidents associated with the defect have been reported. The recall affects All American school buses made between 2011 and May 2013. The defect also affects about 400 transit buses.

Blue Bird is also recalling approximately 388 Vision school buses made from 2012-2013 due to a potential fire hazard. The company says an aluminum fuel line fitting can corrode, increasing the risk of a fire. The company will replace the aluminum fiel line fitting with a stainless steel fitting.
