Seahawks Fullback Arrested for Hit-and-Run

Alexandrea Messner1 year ago

Reuters reports that Seattle Seahawks fullback, Derrick Coleman, has been suspended indefinitely from his team following his arrest on suspicion of vehicular assault and hit-and-run.

Details of the Hit-and-Run Accident

According to Bellevue police, Coleman's pickup truck crashed into the back of a car on Wednesday evening, pushing the car up an embankment and onto a retention wall. The vehicle was flipped and landed upside down.

The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured but is expected to recover. In a news conference, Police Chief, Steve Mylett, stated, “[Coleman] left the scene of an accident where a person was injured and he had a duty under Washington law to stop and render aid.”

Coleman is accused of running from the scene, shoeless. He was tracked down by police blocks away. When stopped by police, Mylett reports that Coleman was cooperative and did not report any injuries.

A blood test that was taken to determine if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol is still pending. Coleman, 24, was held without bail pending a hearing in Seattle's King County Correctional Facility.
