Emily Harrigan1 year ago

The identities of four of the five victims killed in a Seattle Duck Tour Boat and bus accident were released on Friday.

Details of the Duck Tour Boat Accident

According to CNN, the duck boat, an amphibious vehicle used for tours, hit the bus on the Aurora Bridge. Passengers on the bus included employees and students in the North Seattle College’s international program.

In the accident, nearly 50 people were hospitalized with injuries ranging from head trauma to broken bones. 17 were seriously injured and three were immediately taken in for emergency surgery.

Officers are working with the National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) in order to understand the cause of the accident.

Victims Killed in Crash

North Seattle College President Dr. Warren Brown has identified Claudia Derschmidt, 49, of Austria; Privando Putradanto, 18, Indonesia; Mami Sato, 36, from Japan; and Runjie Song, 17, of China.

Brown expressed that it is “absolutely devastating” to lose these four students who had come to the college seeking to improve their lives through higher education.

His main concern at this point is to ensure that the students and faculty at the college receive the “emotional, physical, and psychological support they need” during this difficult time.
