Serious Injuries Prompt Kolcraft Stroller Recall
Kolcraft Enterprises Incorporated, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling 36,000 strollers due to fingertip amputation and laceration hazards.
Laceration and Amputation Injuries Reported
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. is voluntarily recalling about 36,000 of their “Contours Options” three and four wheeled strollers due to reports of fingers becoming caught in the opening that is formed when the stroller is locked and unlocked.
There have been five reports of injuries involving the hinge mechanism. Three reports involved children whose fingertips were amputated and two reports involved adults whose fingers were smashed or lacerated.
Description of Recalled Strollers
- This recall involves “Contours Options” three and four wheeled strollers.
- Model numbers recalled include: ZL002, ZL005, ZL008, ZL015, ZL018.
- The strollers were sold at juvenile product specialty stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Target.com and ToysRUs.com from January 2006 through June 2012 for $150 to $160.
