Sheriff Injured, Woman Dead in Recent Accident

A West Harris County car accident has resulted in the death of a woman and the serious injury of two others, including a sheriff’s deputy.

About the Harris County Accident

According to the San Antonio Express-News, the incident occurred early Friday morning on the 15300 block of Clay Road close to North Eldridge Parkway.

Liobardo Reyes and a female passenger were driving a Ford Fusion westbound on the eastbound lanes of Clay. Around 3AM, Reyes’ Ford collided head-on with a marked patrol vehicle driven by a 13-year sheriff’s deputy veteran, D. Johnson.

Reyes’ passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Reyes and Johnson were seriously injured and flown by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute. Reyes is in critical condition. Johnson sustained a broken leg among other injuries.

Reyes is being charged with intoxicated manslaughter and intoxication assault on a public servant. The accident was investigated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department.
