A father has been killed in a possible DUI accident in which the son was driving.

WCTI 12 News is reporting that a father was killed in an accident in which his son was driving

The accident reportedly happened on Liddel Road in Deep Run, North Carolina at about 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. State troopers have indicated that 28-year-old Joe Powell, III was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident and drove into a curve at a very high rate of speed. The vehicle then left the roadway, flipped multiple times, and then landed in a field.

The father of the driver, 48-year-old Joe Powell Jr., was killed in the accident.

As a result of the incident, Powell III has been tested to see whether or not he was driving while intoxicated at the time of the accident. Toxicology results are currently pending.
