South Texas Man Dead after 18-Wheeler Accident

A man is dead following a fatal accident in which his vehicle struck a piece of equipment being hauled on the back of a tractor-trailer.

About the South Texas Trucking Accident

  • According to reports, the accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 361 in Ingleside, approximately 17 miles northeast of Corpus Christi, Texas.
  • While the identity of the man has not been released, investigators believe he may have been on his way to work when the accident occurred.
  • The tractor-trailer was carrying a load of sheet metal, part of which was hanging over the side of the trailer and was struck by a car traveling the opposite direction.
  • The sheet metal crashed into the driver’s side of the oncoming car, killing the vehicle's only occupant.
  • The truck driver was tracked down by police. The driver stated that he had felt a bump, pulled over to check his load and continued his commute not knowing anything was wrong.
