Spiders Cause Suzuki Kizashi Recall
Spider webs have caused Suzuki Motor of America Incorporated and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to issue a recall on Kizashi 2010 to 2013 model vehicles.
Spider Webs In The Fuel System
Spiders have been constructing their webs in the Suzuki Kizashi evaporative canister vent hose; which is a crucial part in a vehicle’s fuel system.
The webs found in this hose are blocking the air flow, therefore creating cracks, fuel leaks, and increasing the possibility of fires in the gas tank.
About The Recall
- NHTSA estimates that 19,249 vehicles are affected.
- Seven incidents of the webs tampering with the fuel tank have been reported so far. No injuries have occurred.
- Only Suzuki Kizashi model years 2010 through 2013, which were manufactured in October 2009 to July 2012, are being recalled.
- Suzuki will be notifying owners about the recall and on what actions to take to fix and prevent the problem.
Suzuki Kizashi vehicles should be taken to service centers where the vent hose will be replaced with a new one that has a filter attached. If vehicles are affected by spider webs, a fuel tank change will also be performed.
All repairs are free of charge.
