CBS Local News in Boston is reporting that a state police trooper was injured in a motorcycle accident that happened on Friday afternoon.

The accident reportedly happened just after 4 p.m. bear the Wellington Circle, which is in Medford. The state trooper was then taken to the Massachusetts General Hospital to be treated for his injuries sustained in the accident. At this time the extent of his injuries that he sustained is currently unknown.

Route 28 at Wellington Circle is closed at this time, and drivers are encouraged by authorities to seek an alternate route. The reason for the closure is because an investigation into the cause and circumstances of the motorcycle accident involving the police officer remains ongoing at this time.
