Stolen Laptop Exposes Personal Information
The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research has announced that a laptop stolen from an employee’s car may have left their personal and medical information exposed. About 13,000 past and current research participants have been contacted by the institute as a precaution.
Personal Information at Risk
Participants from about 50 clinical trials may have information at risk. Some of the clinical studies were drug trials, including rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's, leukemia, and others.
Credit Monitoring for Affected
Kevin Tracey, the C.E.O. of the Feinstein Institute says although the medical information is password protected, as a precaution the company is offering one year of free credit monitoring to affected participants. A toll free number has been set up to answer any questions regarding the possible breach: 1-888-591-3911.
