Multiple sources are reporting that a person who was trapped under a street sweeper on Friday in Hastings, has passed away, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Firefighters who responded to the scene of the accident indicated that the person was required to be extricated and would have been flown to Orange Park Medical Center to be treated for their injuries, but the Florida Highway Patrol later revealed that the accident was fatal.

The accident happened along State Road 207 and Morrison Road at about 10:20 a.m. State Road 207 was shut down for some time due to the investigation, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. At this time, it is not certain how the person became caught underneath the truck, but an investigation into the cause of the accident remains ongoing at this time.
