T8 LED Lamp Recalled – Burn Hazard

Osram Sylvania has recently recalled about 46,300 T8 LED lamp units in the United States due to a burn hazard posed by the overheating and melting of the lamps.

About the Lamp Recall  

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that the lamps can overheat and melt, causing a burn hazard. 

So far, 34 incidents of overheating and melting have been reported to Osram Sylvania. Fortunately there have been no injuries reported.

Consumers who purchased the defective products are urged to discontinue use of the lamps and remove them from the fixture immediately.

Description of the Recalled Lamps

The following information was provided by the CPSC:

  • The recalled lamps are SubstiTUBE IS T8 LED lamps.
  • They were sold at Osram Sylvania distributors from December 2014 to may 2015.
  • They are white cylinders that are 1 inch in diameter and 48 inches long.
  • The name OSRAM SubtiTUBE® IS LED T8” is printed on a silver label on the lamp.
