Teen Killed in Austin Collision

A teenager was fatally injured Thursday morning after two vehicles collided in South Austin.

Details of the Fatal Austin Collision

According to KEYE-TV, the collision occurred along Manchaca Road near West Slaughter Lane around 12:40 a.m.

Preliminary reports indicate a 2003 Mazda Protégé  was traveling northbound on Manchaca Road when it merged into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2005 Buick Rainer.

The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified as 18-year-old Robert Kirkpatrick Gaston, Jr.

The driver of the Buick was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge with serious injuries.
