Texas Border Patrol Agent Killed in 18-Wheeler Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that a United States Border Patrol agent from West Texas was killed after his agency vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler while the agent was driving home to El Paso after his shift.

Details about the Fatal Accident Involving the Border Patrol Agent

According to officials, canine handler Agent Jose Daniel Barraza died in the accident that happened on Monday morning on interstate 10 near the area of Fort Hancock. Police further stated that the agent’s law enforcement dog, Vino, was in the vehicle at the time of the accident but was not injured.

Authorities have stated that 29-year-old Barraza worked at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint. Agent Barraza crashed hit truck into the back of a tractor-trailer big rig truck. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the accident.

The Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that conditions at the time of the accident were clear and that the roadway was dry. At this point, it is not known was caused Agent Barraza to crash into the back of the big rig.
