Texas Worker Killed in Fracking Accident

A man from Victoria, Texas was killed on Saturday after being struck by a piece of equipment at a fracking site in Belmont County.

About the Fatal Fracking Accident

According to the CantonRep, 43-year-old David Zamora was crushed to death at a fracking site in the western part of Belmont County Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred at the Rice Energy Big Foot Pad located of off Ohio 149 in Smith Township. It is unknown whether Zamora was an employee of Rice Energy or a subcontractor.

Emergency personnel and deputies from the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 3:00 pm on Saturday. The Belmont County Coroner was called shortly after.

This marks the first natural gas industry fatality in Belmont County.
