Details about the Fatal Multiple Vehicle Accident

NBC Miami News is reporting that an early Tuesday morning accident resulted in the death of four people. The busy interstate in Central Florida had to be closed by police and crews cleaned up and investigated the incident.

According to police, the accident happened along Interstate 4, just west of the city of Lakeland. A spokesperson from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that one of the victims was a child.

Investigators revealed that a pickup truck was in the eastbound lanes when it crossed over into the opposite lanes, hitting multiple vehicles and causing several chain-reaction accidents. Two people inside the pickup were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident. The driver of a van hit by a cement truck was also killed.
