Jonathan Hernandez9 months ago

Three people were injured in a single-vehicle accident that happened on Interstate 82.

Details about the Single-Vehicle Accident

The Yakima Herald is reporting that a woman from Granger is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, or driving under the influence, following an accident that happened on Interstate 82 on Tuesday evening that left three children injured, according to the Washington State Patrol.

24-year-old Sally Larimore was traveling about three miles east of Union Gao at around 7:45 p.m. in the evening at a high rate of speed, when her 1999 Chevrolet Lumina left the roadway and drove into the median according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the accident, but three children were. The children were transported to Yakima Valley memorial Hospital. The names of the children have not been released, and neither has any information been released regarding their conditions.

Investigators on the accident have listed speed as the cause of the accident, but believe that other intoxicants, such as alcohol, were involved in the accident and they are asking the driver to be charged with driving under the influence.

Important Information about Driving Under the Influence

According to Mothers against Drunk Driving, there are thousands of wrongful deaths every year in the United States as a result of driving under the influence:

  • In 2013, there were about 9.9 million reported drivers who were driving under the influence of illicit drugs.
  • Three times as many males were arrested for driving under the influence as females.
  • The rate of driving under the influence is the highest among 26-29 year olds in the United States.
