Three people were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries after a multiple-vehicle 18-wheeler accident.

Details about the 18-Wheeler Accident

CBS Local Denver News is reporting that Interstate 76 had to be shut down for a few hours in the Morgan County area after an accident involving two semi-trucks and a minivan.

According to police, the accident reportedly happened at about 3 a.m. Friday morning just west of Wiggins and Fort Morgan. One of the trucks involved in the accident somehow rolled over and was cut in half as the truck behind it was unable to stop in time and drover right through the downed trailer. Another vehicle, a minivan, was involved in the accident, but, at this time, it is not clear how the minivan was hit.

One of the trucks was carrying paint, which spilled out onto the interstate and slowed the cleaning process. All three of the drivers in the vehicles involved in the accident were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Colorado State Patrols say they believe the driver of the truck that initiated the incident may have been drowsy from driving too long.
