A truck carrying eight passengers crashed in Chicota, TX early Sunday morning leaving three dead and five injured, according to CBS DFW news.

Details of the Deadly Crash

Authorities say a 2006 Chevrolet Super-Duty pickup driven by Robert Russell, 18, left the roadway for unknown reasons before striking a tree and rolling several times. The accident happened around 12:47 a.m. on FM 906 in Lamar County.

Russell and two passengers, Colbie Miller and Bailee Sims, both 19, were killed in the accident. One passenger had to be life-flighted to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition. The truck’s four other passengers were transported by ambulance to be treated for injuries.

Fox DFW is reporting that nearly everyone involved in the wreck was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. Alcohol and speed are suspected factors, say police. The accident is still under investigation.
