Three Workers Dead After New Mexico Train Derailment

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a New Mexico freight train derailment that resulted in the deaths three Southwest Railroad Inc. employees.

About the New Mexico Train Accident

  • According to FOX News, a Southwest Railroad Inc. locomotive fell 40 feet down a ravine after becoming derailed about 75 miles northwest of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
  • The eight rail cars attached to the locomotive were not pulled into the ravine, instead staying on or near the railroad tracks, though four tipped over.
  • The three employees killed in the accident, Donald White, 38, Steven Corse, 60, and Ann Thompson, 50, were the only passengers on the train.
  • Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the derailment.
