A motorcyclist was severely injured after colliding with an SUV in Torrington.

Details about the Motorcycle Accident

Multiple sources are reporting that a motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries over the weekend after being involved in an accident in which the motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle in Torrington.

According to police, the accident happened at about 4:05 p.m. on Sunday afternoon when the motorcycle hit the driver’s side rear door of a Ford Escape while attempting to pull out of Birden Street onto Highland Avenue.

Both of the vehicles involved in the accident sustained extensive damage and had to be towed away from the scene of the accident.

The driver of the motorcycle has not been identified at this time, but was transported to the Hartford Hospital, according to Kevin Tieman, a police spokesman. The driver of the motorcycle was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Ford SUV was treated at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and was released later Sunday evening.
