Toxic Cleaner Kills Chicago Police Officer
Autopsy reports indicate that a Chicago police officer with 15 years on the job died after inhaling “noxious” fumes from a cleaning product sprayed near his desk by a maintenance worker, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
The father of two began having breathing problems in March, after a janitor sprayed cleaning products from an aerosol can on a desk near him at the police station where he worked. His coughing and breathing problems worsened, requiring him to be hospitalized twice. During his second hospitalization, he was put into a medically-induced coma. His lungs shut down and he died in early April. The coroner ruled his death accidental, but the autopsy report is still under review by the police department.
