Toyota Recalls 690,000 Tacoma

Destiny Baker2 years ago

Toyota Motor Co. has announced that it will be recalling 690,000 Tacoma pickup trucks due to a problem with the vehicles’ rear suspension.

About the Tacoma Recall

According to USA Today, the trucks are equipped with rear leaf springs that can corrode and fracture, potentially resulting punctured gas tanks. These punctures can lead to gas leads and an increased risk of fire.

The recall includes 2005-2011 Tacoma 4×4 and Tacoma PreRunner pickups.

Toyota is not aware of any fires, crashes, or injuries caused by the defect. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been notified of the defect.

Previous Toyota Recalls

  • Toyota recalled a total of 840,000 vehicles in September.
  • On September 11, Toyota recalled 130,000 2014 Tundra pickups after identifying a defect that could interfere with the deployment of side airbags in the event of a collision.
