Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-78 Injures One, Causes Delays

A tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 78 knocked a bulldozer from a trailer, caused major delays, and injured at least one person.

Multiple sources are reporting that a tractor-trailer that was traveling along Interstate 78 East was involved in an accident that injured at least one person and forced the closure of several lanes after a bulldozer was thrown from the trailer and onto the highway.

The accident, which happened at 6 a.m., caused major delays during the morning rush hour in Hunterdon and Somerset. All three of the eastbound lanes were initially blocked.

The person who was injured was taken to the Morristown Medical Center by paramedics from the Whitehouse Rescue Squad, but the extent of the injuries sustained by the person were not immediately known.

By 6:30 a.m., traffic was backed up as much as four miles. Delays lasted as long as 90 minutes and continued after 9 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police.

The New Jersey State Police, Whitehouse Rescue Squad, paramedics from Hunterdon Medical Center, and the Whitehouse and Oldwick fire companies all respinded to the scene of the accident.
